Adam Gallant, Microsoft
Adam Gallant is a 17 year veteran at Microsoft Canada, working in a variety of positions focusing on software development and techniques. In his current role, Adam works with Microsoft’s customers and partners in helping them learn and deploy Microsoft ALM platform, Visual Studio 2012. While Adam specializes in the details of implementation of Visual Studio and Team Foundation Server, he has a broad background in development processes, platforms, and technologies, as well as quality assurance techniques. He is currently focused on helping customers to continue to derive efficiencies in the software development space on the Microsoft platform.
Akemi Micallef, TEKsystems
Akemi Micallef has 19 years of experience in the IT industry with over 13 years in software testing and quality assurance. She has spent the last seven years in various leadership positions in professional services environments with responsibilities ranging from solution design, team building & management, customer relationship management, expertise development, process improvements, and delivery support. Akemi is a highly adaptive and connective leader who grows QA delivery capacity and capability by providing a vision, plans, communication, measurements, and support. Currently she is managing her own Testing Center of Excellence for TEKsystems' Montreal Solution Center. Akemi holds CSTE and APMG Change Management Practitioner certifications.

Alexander French is a QA Manager based in Toronto with a great team of test specialists working across TD Bank Group. Alexander spent six years working in Japan and has 10 years of experience working with cross-location QA teams in Canada. Alexander’s motto? Anand Moorthy, Hexaware Technologies
Anand Moorthy leads the Quality Assurance and Testing Services (QATS) business unit at Hexaware Technologies. Anand has over 20 years of global experience and has played leadership roles in the quality assurance and testing space across strategy, solutions, operations, delivery and sales. Anand has been a strong advocate of innovation in quality and has spoken at various industry forums like HP Universe and Gartner Symposium.
Bruce Benton, NovusWorks
With 27 years of experience across software industries including aerospace, industrial automation, operating systems, development tools and line of business applications, Bruce Benton possesses a strong background in all aspects of software engineering. He has worked as a developer, systems engineer, program manager, development manager, QA/Test manager and software architect in companies ranging from 500 up to 90,000 people. Bruce strongly believes that any process or deliverable that does not exist in direct response to a well understood organizational need is a waste of time and money. He couples this philosophy with significant experience in agile and predictive development practices, scope estimation, capacity planning, domain modeling, software validation, and organization management to help teams achieve their objectives with maximum reliability and minimum cost.
Bruce Pinn, Chief Information Officer, International Financial Data Services Ltd.
Bruce Pinn is Chief Information Officer, accountable for Core Development, Client Development and the Project Management office at International Financial Data Services Ltd. Prior to IFDS, Bruce held the position of Senior Vice-President of Development at Symcor Inc. His previous experience also includes serving as Vice-President, Application Development at Optus e-Business Solutions and Senior Vice-President, Application Development at Corelan Communications Inc. In his role at Corelan, Bruce led the development of the FundSERV Mutual Fund trading system, as well as the design and management of several large websites, including Thomas Cook’s FX business online. Bruce has over 30 years of IT experience and has thorough knowledge of financial services and outsourcing.
Christin Wiedemann, Ph.D., PQA Ltd.
After finishing her Ph.D. in Physics at Stockholm University, Christin Wiedemann started working as a software developer for the Swedish consulting company HiQ. Christin soon discovered that software testing was more interesting and challenging than development and joined the Swedish test company AddQ Consulting. There, she worked as a tester, test lead and trainer, giving courses on agile testing, test design and exploratory testing throughout Europe. Christin developed a course on exploratory testing, and is a co-creator of the exploratory testing approach xBTM. Christin currently lives in Vancouver, where she joined Professional Quality Assurance (PQA) Ltd. and where she continues to use her scientific background and pedagogic abilities to develop her own skills and those of others.
Deepika Mamnani, Hexaware Technologies
Deepika Mamnani leads the solutions arm of Quality Assurance and Testing Services group at Hexaware Technologies. Deepika’s core competency is conducting test assessments for testing processes across software development life cycles such as Scrum, XP, and V. Deepika is also an expert at defining transition models and governance structures for testing organizations. In this capacity, she has played advisory roles for several organizations during the implementation of their testing Centers of Excellence (CoEs) both in-house and outsourced. Deepika is a CSTE, is CSQA Certified and is a Certified Scrum Master.
Iain McCowatt, CGI
Iain did his first testing in 1996, when, because he was available, he was asked to manage UAT for a call center management system. Then, a few years later, he took a sideways move into a system testing role. That’s when he got “the bug.” Iain currently works with CGI in Atlantic Canada. By day he is a program test manager for multiple clients in the banking industry, and by night a blogger at www.exploringuncertainty.com. Iain has spoken at a number of conferences over the last several years.
James McHale, Software Engineering Institute
Jim McHale has a degree in electrical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh and spent 20 years as a software developer, systems engineer, and project leader on industrial control systems such as steel mills, power plant control and monitoring, and driverless transportation. Since 1999, as a senior member of the technical staff at Carnegie Mellon University’s Software Engineering Institute, he occasionally teaches CMMI. However, most of his time is spent training and coaching development teams and their organizations in the Team Software Process (TSP), emphasizing quality in order to be equally more agile and more disciplined within their existing environments.
Jean-Jacques Ledoux, TD Bank Group
Jean-Jacques Ledoux has a wide range of experience in different testing fields including development tools, business intelligence, online travel, e-commerce store fronts, B2B integrated systems as well as online banking and insurance. He also has vast experience in test project management from small to multi-million dollar projects and has been part of and managed distributed teams that worked in both waterfall and agile methodologies. Jean-Jacques has also helped in building out offshore models in various locations. A Certified Scrum Master and ISEB Foundation certificate holder, Jean-Jacques is now working as a Quality Assurance Manager for one of the largest retail banks in North America.
Karmen Knezevic, Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission
Karmen Knezevic has over 10 years of IT experience with a strong emphasis on Quality Management and Acceptance Test-Driven Development (ATDD). She currently works as a Senior QA Analyst at Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) where she leads all QA activities from conception through delivery and maintenance. Prior to joining the public sector, Karmen worked in the private sector assisting in the delivery of world-class software. In addition to a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Ottawa, Karmen holds a Masters Certification in Business Analysis from Sprott School of Business and an ISTQB®BCS CTFL Certificate.

Marina Coan is a dedicated tester with a strong work ethic and the ability to successfully problem solve. She joined the Professional Quality Assurance Ltd. team last year as an experienced software tester. Marina has a unique ability to empathize effectively in order to uncover needs, surpass expectations, and solidify long-lasting business relationships with clients. Michael Giacometti, Cognizant
Michael Giacometti has over 13 years of experience in quality assurance. He has worked in all aspects of the field from manual testing, to automation, to running large practices for a Fortune 500 company. Michael has also worked for HP/Mercury where he was Quality Center Best Practices Manager. He has created innovative ways to integrate QA as a major force within enterprise PMO's and has created or transformed QA organizations for global clients who wanted to operate in a standard and optimized manner. He has also created a leadership engine to foster growth in future QA leaders. Michael now runs a large testing practice with over 400 QA professionals working around the globe.

Michael Lawler has been involved in information technology management since 1984 and in the service industry for over thirty years with responsibilities at the national, regional, and local levels. He has been focused in the area of software quality since 1997. Throughout his career, Michael developed and mentored responsive teams who work creatively to solve internal and client-related challenges. He is an effective communicator who works toward solutions in a creative manner that delivers multiple benefits to a variety of industries and organizations. Michael has also managed relationships and partnerships with several international vendors on behalf of clients and corporate entities.
Michael Yudanin, Conflair
Michael Yudanin is CEO of Conflair, a QA and testing company. He has been working on automating tests for mobile devices since before mobile apps and smartphones became a commonplace. Michael developed RealMobileTM, a unique patent-pending approach to using common automation tools to automate mobile apps testing. Among the clients who benefited from this approach are Home Depot, Bank of America, Weather Channel, and several other large enterprises. Michael is regular conference speaker and instructor.
NK Shrivastava, RefineM
Narendra (NK) Shrivastava, PMP, PMI-RMP, is a board member of the PMI Southwest Missouri Chapter and a seasoned project management consultant. After working in several companies for more than 20 years and reaching the top of the project management ladder, he started his own project management consulting company, RefineM, in 2011. NK specializes in helping organizations implement the best practices in project management by setting up a Project Management Office/Center of Excellence. NK is an agile coach and trains project teams to adopt agile methodologies in their projects. He also provides management consulting, coaching/mentoring, and training on several areas in project management and is a frequent conference speaker and trainer.
Peter Varhol, Seapine Software
Peter Varhol is a technology manager and writer with extensive knowledge and experience in computer software and managing computer products. As a technology product manager, Peter has led the market-driven development strategy of several tools for professional developers. As a technology writer, editor, and manager, he has investigated and written hundreds of articles on advances in the internet and Web, software development, embedded systems, operating systems, networking, and other technical software and hardware. As a college professor and industry speaker, he has explained and demonstrated fundamentals and advanced techniques in computing and information systems. Raj Rao, NTT Data Inc.
Raj Rao is the Vice President, Global Head of QA and Testing practice at NTT Data. There, Raj is responsible for driving quality initiatives and solution support activities across 1500 QA and testing professionals. In this role, Raj has created new comprehensive quality frameworks for multiple enterprises and well recognized open source framework such as Open2Test. Raj has also worked at SAP, PeopleSoft, and Oracle building successful new products. While at SAP, Raj created a testing solution (TAO) to accelerate and optimize SAP application testing based on meta-data learning. He was also responsible for developing the Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) product suite at SAP. These quality solutions are unique and innovative in the industry and have attracted significant customer interest and adoption globally.
Rob Ashall, Parasoft
Robert Crews, Checkpoint Technologies
Bob Crews, President of Checkpoint Technologies, is a consultant and trainer with over 22 years of IT experience including full life-cycle development involving development, requirements management, and software testing. He has consulted and trained for over 200 different organizations in areas such as effectively using automated testing solutions, test planning, risk analysis, implementing automated frameworks, and developing practices which ensure the maximum return-on-investment with automated solutions. Bob has presented at numerous conferences and user groups throughout the world including QAI, EuroStar (Copenhagen), HP Software Universe, and LatinStar (Mexico City). Bob was named one of the top five speakers at the QAI Annual Software Testing Conference in 2004.
Shaun Bradshaw, Zenergy Technologies
Shaun Bradshaw has spent the last 12 years helping numerous companies improve their QA and test processes by advising, teaching, and mentoring them on effective testing and test management techniques as well as implementing optimized test metrics. Shaun speaks at many of the major industry conferences and is recognized for his presentations on test metrics, the S-Curve, and the Zero Bug Bounce. Shaun is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems.
Steven Woodward, Cloud Perspectives
Steven Woodward is CEO of Cloud Perspectives, located in Ottawa, Ontario . He is a member of the National Institute of Standards for Technology (NIST) cloud computing working groups under the United States Department of Commerce. He is also an International Telecommunication Union expert in conjunction with the United Nations helping define and align cloud computing telecommunication models. Cloud Perspectives helped found the Ottawa Centre for Research and Innovation (OCRI) cloud computing cluster. He is a member of the Cloud Standards Customer Council with the Object Modeling Group (OMG) and associate with the TM Forum where he is helping define Cloud Metrics in conjunction with the International Software Measurement Association. Steven has two books being published on Cloud Computing in 2012 and is known for his logical, real-life perspectives that clarify the opportunities and challenges of advanced technologies.
Thomas Cagley, David Consulting Group
Tom Cagley leads DCG’s Software Process Improvement and Software Measurement Consulting Practices. He has over 20 years of experience in the software industry. Tom has held technical and managerial positions in different industries as a leader in software methods and metrics, quality assurance, and systems analysis. He is a frequent speaker at metrics, quality, and project management conferences. His areas of expertise encompass methods and metrics, quality integration, quality assurance, and the application of the SEI’s CMMI® to achieve process improvements. Tom is the current President of the International Function Point Users Group. He also is an active blogger and podcaster, hosting and editing the Software Process and Measurement Cast.
Tim Korson, PhD, Qualsys Solutions
Dr. Timothy Korson is a Scrum trainer and coach. He has had over a decade of significant experience on a large variety of systems developed using modern software engineering techniques. This experience includes distributed, real time, and embedded systems as well as business information systems in an n-tier, client-server environment. He has helped design and teach a Master of Software Engineering program and has been an international industry consultant since 1985. Tim has authored numerous articles and co-authored a book on object technology centers, Object Technology Centers of Excellence. He has given frequent invited lectures at major international conferences and has contributed to the discipline through original research.
