The Subconscious Tester

Gil Broza
3P Vantage

Have you been following the same procedures as another tester, but finding more significant defects?  Do you feel comfortable repeating those same procedures?  Does a fellow tester repeatedly find the spelling mistakes and other visual irregularities that always seem to escape you?  Do you feel you are more effective in some environments than in others?  The answers to these questions can be found in your subconscious mind.  The subconscious mind employs many mental filters, thought patterns, and automatic behaviors. While most are helpful, some can cause blind spots and even absolute impediments.  In this keynote, software industry veteran and agile coach, Gil Broza, will reveal the top six subconscious "meta-programs" and share their effect on your success, motivation, and enjoyment.

Gil Broza helps organizations, teams, and individuals implement high-performance agile principles and practices.  His coaching and training clients, over 1,000 professionals in 20 companies, have delighted their customers, shipped working software on time, boosted their productivity, and demolished their software defects.  Beyond teaching, Gil helps people to overcome limiting habits, fears of change, blind spots and outdated beliefs, and reach higher levels of performance, confidence, and accomplishment.  Gil has an M.Sc. in Computational Linguistics and a B.Sc. in Computer Science and Mathematics from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel.  He is a certified NLP Master Practitioner and has studied organizational behavior and development extensively.  He has written several practical papers for conferences and trade magazines, winning the Best Practical Paper award at XP/Agile Universe 2004.  Gil is currently co-producing the Coaching Stage for the Agile 2009 conference.

  • Learn the subconscious factors and hurdles to success and motivation
  • Recognize your mental filters are and understand how they can be leveraged for greater achievement
  • Be aware of your filters and those of others to assist in more effective communication
